ODBC connection fails

I'm running SQL 2000/SP3 on a W2k server. I have a database with a standard
user (dbo rights). From any of my workstations I can create an ODBC
connection using SQL authentication.
When I try to create an ODBC connection on the server itself with the same
credentials, I get an error msg "login failed, username is not associated
with a trusted server connection". Using Windows authentication with another
user that has access to the SQL server works fine.
This doesn't make sense to me. What am I overlooking here? Any help/hint
would be appreciated.

The user account itself needs to have access to the server running SQL
Server. One way to verify, temporarily enable (don't leave it that way ;)
the server GUEST account.

Define user id "sa" and set pwd for sa account on sql server and try to
login that account on odbc connection.

security is sent over the network in clear text.

Obtaining all the dates

Dear all,
According to a date introduce I would need to obtain all the periodDesc of
the following table:
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tbl_Periods] (
[sinStudyID] [smallint] NOT NULL ,
[strStudy] [char] (3) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL ,
[boldone] [bit] NOT NULL ,
[sinPeriodID] [smallint] NOT NULL ,
[strPeriodDesc] [char] (8) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL ,
[datPeriodBegin] [datetime] NULL ,

select name,OBJECTPROPERTY(id, N'IsExtendedProc') op from
master.dbo.sysobjects where name=N'xp_myxp'
use master

When OBJECTPROPERTY is called from mybase it returns NULL. When it is

According to the Books Online, OBJECTPROPERTY expects an ID of an
"object in the current database".
Razvan|||Object id values are not unique within a server. So, when you are in the
context of mybase, the value passed to objectproperty is from that database.
So if you had an object with the same ID as xp_myxp you would have gotten a
result, though not the one you would have liked.
You might be able to get away with using the xtype column from sysobjects to
answer your queries question, since extended procs are of type X.
