obtain certificate co configure ssl

i read from msdn that i need a certificate for me to be able to configure SSL which will allow me to replicate on my publication. it says that i can obtain a certificate from a certification authority (CA). do i have to pay for it?

there is a SelfSSL that i can dowload and use for 7 days have anyone of you tried this before?

thanks a lot:)

SelfSSL are good for development and testing purposes, but

not for production purpose. It has been tested and you can use it.

Here's a link on how to configure it:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa395285(VS.80).aspx

It is recommended to obtain a certificate from a CA because it will be more

secure. I'm not sure if there's a fee for obtaining the certificate

hope that help.|||Thanks for the help! Though I didnt use SelfSSL coz I read that Windows Server 2003 can create certificates and I am exploring it now..

obsolete subscriptions still exist

Hi everyone,
I disabled replication on my local sql server. I would assume publication and subscription folder will be empty after I refresh Enterprise Manager. however that's not the case.
Publication folder is empty after I disabled replication, but subscription folder is not empty, what is going on?
I kept refresh subscription folder under 'replication', I can't get rid of those subscriptions? how can I get rid of them?
thanks
Kevin
Please try running sp_removedbreplication in the relevant databases.
